2003 Texas Coin and Currency Set - Only 2,000 Sets Issued

2003 Texas Coin and Currency Set - Only 2,000 Sets Issued

Price: $275

We will let the BEP speak for itself regarding this extraordinary set.

“This innovative set features for the first time ever, crisp, uncirculated Series 2003 $1, $2, $5, and $10 notes with MATCHING LOW SERIAL NUMBERS that represent the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and two uncirculated Texas State Quarters from the United States Mint. This is a limited edition set—only 2,000 worldwide will be produced.

The release of this remarkable set marks the first time the Bureau of Engraving and Printing has ever offered a multiple denomination set from the same bank with identical serial numbers. The set also includes a Certificate of Authenticity signed by both the Director of the BEP and the acting Director of the U.S. Mint.

Per the BEP, “this limited edition set is professionally bound into a hardcover leatherette booklet, and the currency is protected by clear, acid-free, polymer sleeves.” Please note that a beautifully-designed outer box (as illustrated in the scans below) that houses the leatherette booklet is also included.

These sets sold out in 20 minutes! Per the BEP: “The incredible demand for this offer completely overwhelmed the telephone and website order service systems, both of which experienced significant system failures. The BEP deeply apologizes for any inconvenience.”

This set remains a real sleeper. Just try finding four low-numbered matching serial numbers from a $1, $2, $5, and $10. Then be sure they are all from the same Federal Reserve District and all with the “A” suffix (or a star no less, as is the case with the $2).

This would be nearly impossible to accomplish.

With so few collectors aware of what these sets actually consist of, they have remained (for the most part) under the radar. And with only 2000 sets issued, with many of them likely stashed away in grandpa’s attic or cupboard somewhere in Texas, the actual number available in the marketplace is quite limited.

So, getting one while the getting is good is probably a real good idea.
